Emalata is five years old, and loves preschool at Noah’s Ark in Kahului. Kamille is four years old, and both of the sisters enjoy dancing tap and hula. Baby sister Khloe just turned one year, and the older girls simply adore her!

Mom is Seletute Anitoni, Front Desk agent at Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa, and dad is Ray Tasini, driver for Kihei Ice. The family lives in Kahului, and really enjoys family days at the beach or to the movies.

Playing in mud is no longer just for kids. At Olavine Spa & Salon in the Wailea Gateway Center, guests of all ages can enjoy a “Maui Mud Party”—a signature treatment that combines the therapeutic benefits of organic Maui red clay with a whole lot of fun. “It’s perfect for couples, or a parent and child,” says spa owner Cecilia Hercik. “We can also incorporate the mud treatment into a private spa party for up to ten guests.”

Swimsuit-clad guests are first treated to aromatherapy, followed by exfoliation. After rinsing off, organic clay is applied to the entire body. “All we can see is their eyeballs!” laughs Cecilia. Guests then sit down in the “wet room” and sip tea, while the clay cools and relaxes their bodies. One more rinse off, then it’s time for moisturizer. The clay’s properties hold the moisture in the skin for an extended length of time.

There are strong on-shore winds in the late afternoon when Susan and I board Trilogy II at Ma‘alaea Harbor, so we’re not sure what to expect once we get out on the water. The catamaran’s brilliant white deck and cabin are complemented by navy blue and white striped fabric on the cushioned benches. Cozy tables for two have been set with white plates and blue napkins. Crew members are color-coordinated as well, looking snazzy in crisp white shirts with navy-blue shorts.
