When guests ask you for a recommendation for CrossFit on Maui look no further than Makena CrossFit located at 300 Ohukai Road, Suite B101 in Kihei.
Head coach Paul Romero shared with us that guests who are visiting Maui are always welcome at their “box” (CrossFit speak for gym). “We have guests with us daily who are on vacation and just want to keep their workouts going at Maui’s premier CrossFit box.”
For those who are unfamiliar with CrossFit, it is a high-intensity fitness program incorporating elements from several sports and types of exercise, based on functional movements. These exercises are supervised and measured and the “Workout of the Day” or WOD is set by the coaches each day.
Monday through Friday WOD’s at Makena CrossFit are offered at 6am, 8:30am, 4:30pm and 5:45pm. There is also an open gym time from 7-8:30am. On Saturdays, WOD is 8am and open gym runs from 9-11am.
On Sundays they offer a FREE workout down at the beach. “Kiakahi” is a two hour functional, cultural outdoor experience. This incorporates a Polynesian flavor on to CrossFit activities, this class is free and all guests are welcome. Meet on the beach in front of Sugar Beach Events (85 N, Kihei Road). Guests should bring water and a towel and be ready for fun!
