Aloha and Happy Holiday Season to our keiki cover cousins for December: Jayda Lucille Leolani Lum Lung & Karsyn Phillip Ekela Solomone Pupunu!

Their grandma and great aunty both work at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa at Drums of the Pacific Lu`au.

The two are “best cousins” and best friends and their family calls them “Thing 1 and Thing 2” since they are always together!

These active keiki attend Maui Preparatory Academy and have both been on the honor roll. Jayda dances for Uluwehi Guerrero with Halau Hula Kauluokala, and loves tennis, playing `ukulele, and making jewelry. Karsyn plays football, Kajukenbo, surfs, and loves motocross.

Grandma shares, “Both of these kids have such an amazing spirit of gratitude—we love them!”

andaz maui at wailea’s ka‘ana kitchen: tantalize your taste buds at maui’s new resort

Imagine a restaurant where the dining experience is as meaningful as the food itself. Such a restaurant now exists on Maui, thanks to the recent opening of the brand-new Andaz Maui at Wailea, where Chef de Cuisine Isaac Bancaco is serving up a cutting-edge menu at the resort’s Ka‘ana Kitchen restaurant.

Situated on the site of the former Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort, the much-anticipated Andaz opened with a splash this past September. Janet and I were eager to check out the place, and jumped at the opportunity to dine at Ka‘ana Kitchen.

spago at four seasons maui: a stylish getaway on the south shore

Walking through the open breezeway into Spago at Four Seasons in Wailea made me instantly feel like I was on vacation. My good friend Heather and I arrived a little early for our dinner reservation, and after peeking at the cocktail menu we decided we had to hang out on the pillow-filled lounge sofas and sip one. Floor-to-ceiling photos of sea anemones grace the walls of the lounge area, and the overall vibe helped us feel like we were much more “hip” than we ever actually could be.

kapalua ziplines and kapalua spa host ‘a day of play’ concierge party

On Wednesday, October 30, Kapalua Ziplines’ new owners and the team from Kapalua Spa hosted over 30 concierge and activity professionals from Maui for a fabulous “Day of Play.”

The group arrived mid-morning at Kapalua Spa, and were greeted by spa staff members who conducted private tours of the award-winning facility which just received the coveted 2013 Best Luxury Destination Spa.

With the recent announcement of Hyundai’s title sponsorship extension through 2015, the 2014 Hyundai Tournament of Championship is gearing up for an exciting week, January 2 through January 6, 2014.

This tournament is unique in that it features only champions from the prior season.  2013 champion, Dustin Johnson will return to defend his title and vie for his share of the $5.7 million purse.  Also expected to attend are Masters Champion Adam Scott, PGA Championship winner Jason Dufner, past FedEx Cup Champions Brandt Snedeker and Bill Haas, Matt Kuchar, Boo Weekley, young gun Jordan Spieth and many more.
