It is the iconic Hawaiian image: A hula dancer on the beach at sunset. Yet for the average photographer in Hawai‘i, the chance of capturing such a scene has always been remote…until now.
The second Maui Photo Festival & Workshops, set for August 25-29, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Maui, will continue the trend of bringing world-class photographers to one of the world’s most photogenic locations: Maui. From novice to professional – attendees will learn from classroom sessions, location shoots, and hands-on demo sessions led by professional photographers.

Our August 2010 cover girl is Ka‘imilani Shayna Courtney Alboro. She is the daughter of Monica Courtney who works in the bell department at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa. Dad is Shane Courtney who also works at Hyatt at the Front Desk.

The family lives in Kihei and “Imi” has a sister named Aiyanna Kaiolohia. Imi attends Ke Kula Kamalii Puuwai Laa in Lahaina in Pre-Kindergarten and her favorite time of day is snacktime!
She also takes ballet and loves her “Barbies.” Mom shares, “The first time that she started swimming was when we were visiting at the Hyatt on Kaua‘i and remembering her joy and sense of accomplishment keeps me going.” “As an employee of the Hyatt we are able to experience Cirque Polynesia and the Drums of the Pacific luau, which Imi loves! Sharing these experiences with our guests brings me joy and I know they will create their own memories here.”
