BLOG COVER_IMG_1.2015Mahalo to the Brown ‘ohana for sharing Duke Kameaho‘okohoiapu‘uwaihaokilaka‘alokuloku and Aaliyah Ku‘umomimakamae with us this month for our cover.

Duke and Aaliyah’s Tutu, Malia Williams, works as an “At Your Service” agent at Wailea Marriott Resort & Spa.

Mom is Chantelle Brown, Ocean Safety Training Captain for Maui County, and dad is Keola Brown, Ocean Safety North District Captain, Maui County.

Duke is in third grade at Makawao Elementary. and Aaliya attends preschool at Makawao Hongwanji.

Duke is seven years old, and his Hawaiian name means “the chosen one who has a heart of steel and is unafraid to brave any of the elements.” He loves playing football and baseball, and playing Minecraft on the ipad.

Aaliyah’s Hawaiian name means “my precious pearl.” She is four years old, and loves sleepovers at Tutu’s house, where they enjoy playing games, reading books, watching movies, and eating yummy desserts!

Mom shares: “We are so very proud of our children…we are blessed to have such wonderful healthy children, and there is not a day that goes by without my telling them multiple times, ‘I love you!’”

Viewpoints Gallery, Makawao

2015 marks the tenth year of Viewpoints Gallery’s Celebration of Hawai‘i invitational exhibition. The entire gallery is transformed into a comprehensive display of art related to Hawai‘i. Collectors from around the state and the world await this exhibition, which has become an annual pilgrimage for many. Oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, wood, ceramic, stone, metal, fiber, photography, jewelry, glass, and kapa, are transformed by some of the finest talents in Hawai‘i, and coalesced into a collection of cultural importance.
