Aloha to this month’s handsome four-year-old  cover boy Kainalu Mikeal Kenji Bacarro-Selose!

Mom is Angelynn Bacarro-Selose, who works at the front desk at Kamaole Sands in Kihei. Dad is Mark Selose, who works in maintenance; the family lives upcountry in Makawao.

Kainalu attends St. Joseph Early Learning Center preschool, and has just welcomed a newborn baby sister to the family! He loves to play soccer, ride his bike, and go fishing and play in the lo‘i.

Mom shares, “I love when Kainalu tells me ‘I Love You’ in random moments. He loves his baby sister, and takes good care of her. Our children inspire us both to work hard.”

His grandmother, Sue Bacarro, is also a guest service professional at Maui Banyan in the reservations department.

maui theatre, home of `ulalena, welcomes two new shows

On June 29, 2013 The Maui Theatre launched two new shows to Maui’s evening entertainment scene.

“You Got It! A Salute to Roy Orbison” is the only show of its kind in the world and is officially endorsed and presented by Roy Orbison’s eldest son Wesley Orbison. The show is a live concert production accompanied by a full band and dancers performing Roy Orbison’s major songs, including his 15 number one hits which made him an internationally recognized superstar.

Australian singing sensation John Stephan makes his Hawai‘i debut with a salute to the legend. With a voice filled with warmth, emotion and a four-octave range, “The Voice From Down Under” will take audience members on an incredible trip through the storied career or Orbison. Covering a multitude of his chart-topping hits including “Pretty Woman”, “Crying”, “Blue Bayou”, “Only the Lonely”, and many more.

atlantis submarines maui: 50,000 undersea tours and counting!

Atlantis Submarines Maui achieved an ecotourism milestone yesterday, descending for the 50,000th time into the midst of the wondrous marine life found in the beautiful waters off Lahaina.

Guests of the 50,000th submarine dive, taking place at 9am on June 18, enjoyed an up-close and dry view of Maui’s undersea world–more than 100 feet below the surface–along with a fresh flower lei and commemorative photo to share in the memory of the occasion.

“For 22 years, we have been providing a fascinating tour experience that is sustainable, eco-friendly and rooted in promoting marine conservation, and sharing the importance of that message with all of our guests,” said Jim Walsh, General Manager of Atlantis Submarines Maui.
