2019 maui plein air painting invitational

Beginning Saturday, February 16 and ending Sunday, February 24, the 2019 Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational will bring together 24 of the top plein air artists from Hawai‘i and the mainland to capture Maui’s Upcountry vistas, pristine beaches, majestic mountains, and historic towns.
The public will have three opportunities to observe 24 nationally acclaimed plein air artists creating paintings outdoors in four hours.

Private ticketed events for collectors will precede each art exhibit and sale. Six public art sales offer everyone opportunities to meet artists and buy fine art that they witnessed being painted during the week. Continue reading ‘2019 maui plein air painting invitational’

Beginning Saturday, February 17, the 2018 Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational will bring together top plein air artists from Hawai‘i and the mainland to capture Maui’s Upcountry vistas, pristine beaches, majestic mountains, and historic towns.

Watch 25 artists create inspiring paintings at the Lahaina Harbor Kick Off, Kapalua Bay Paint Out, and the Canoe Beach Quick Draw. There will be six opportunities to purchase original paintings. The week culminates with the ‘Art to Heart’ Gala, the Artists’ Aloha Reception and, the Artists’ Farewell Reception – all held at the Royal Lahaina Resort. Blow Your Own Maui Glass Ornament

Available on Wednesdays from 10am – 1pm by reservation. Experience some holiday magic and create a beautiful glass ball ornament! Each participant will walk away with an incredible personalized glass ornament—ready to give as a gift or to display in your home. Over approximately 30 minutes, you will choose the colors for your unique glass ball, learn about basic tools and techniques, and even try your hand at some of the process! No experience is required and you’ll have lots of help and guidance from Teaching Artist Stephen Fellerman. Note: Pieces will be available for pick up 24-48 hours after class; flat rate shipping is also available on request at an additional charge.

Hui No‘eau Visual Arts Center in collaboration with East Maui Watershed Partnership (EMWP) brings you Malama Wao Akua (Caring for the Realm of the Gods) – a juried art exhibition celebrating the native species of Maui Nui (Maui, Lana‘i, Moloka‘i, Kaho‘olawe). We invite Maui artists to explore our watersheds and use their creative talents to raise awareness about the importance of protecting native species.

Selected artwork should be successful in sharing knowledge of the watersheds and native species with others in a meaningful way.  Artwork will also be selected based upon a number of criteria, including originality of concept, creativity, technique, professionalism, and presentation. A jurying team with expertise in both art and conservation will select from among the pool of entries. Works in any medium are welcome! Hui Family Friday Workshop: Hand-made Lotus Book

Need a new journal or sketchbook? How about a great, new gift idea? Bring the whole family to the Hui for a fun & creative Friday night! Learn how to create your own “lotus book” that double as a work of art! Parent-child teams will work together to measure, cut, fold, and attach pages and decorative covers using various tools and techniques! You’ll leave with a book (or two!) and instructions for further projects.“Family Friday” workshops are designed to encourage children along with an adult guardian to create artwork together. hui no‘eau visual arts center: there’s always something happening at the hui!
