UH Maui College’s Office of Continuing Education and Training (OCET) is accepting applications for the Certificate for Customer Service in Hawai‘i, developed by Kapiolani Community College and the Hawai’i Tourism Authority. The foundation of the program is based on the Native Hawaiian culture to develop practical skills that help provide a gratifying and memorable guest experience for our community and global customers.

OCET Instructors Charen Kepler and Lauren Blickley will share their knowledge of what makes Hawai‘i a special place for residents and visitors through interactive and compelling learning objectives.

This certification is designed for employees of Hawai‘i’s visitor industry who have direct contact to out-of-state and foreign visitors. This includes: hotel-resort properties, food & beverage establishments, entertainment venues, convention centers, concierge, airlines, rental, transportation and tour companies, retailers, airport agencies, visitor activities, government entities, galleries, museums, and healthcare organizations. This certification, normally valued at $1139.00, is FREE to qualified employees for a limited time!
In addition, HTA is providing a capstone exam to qualified participants employed as tour guides and drivers to earn the Certification for Hawai‘i Professional Tour Guides.

Certificate Requirements:
This Certificate of Professional Development or the Certification for Hawai’i Professional Tour Guides will be earned by participants who successfully complete the training program and capstone project by the established due dates, with a minimum 80% attendance.

FREE Introductory Reception:
Tuesday 5:30-7:30pm on September 4, 2018. Instructors and former students will present at a Meet and Greet Reception at the Leis Family Class Act Restaurant on the UHMC campus. Refreshments, pupu, applications and a short overview of the certification course will be provided.
