mc_season-of-aloha-at-grand-wailea-santa-arrival-by-outrigger-canoe-4x6-300dpiA treelighting ceremony, Santa arriving by canoe, and a gingerbread village built by na keiki from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui are all reasons to celebrate the holidays. The month of December 2016 is themed ‘Tis the Season of Aloha at Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort. Many of the December month-long activities and programs benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui.

On Sunday, December 4, more than eight miles of white lights are strung along the monkeypod trees lining the driveway to Grand Wailea for the Treelighting Ceremony. At center stage is a live Christmas tree reaching 25 feet and waiting to be lit by children from Boys & Girls Clubs. They will also feature a special holiday performance by Hawaii’s all-time leading female vocalist Amy Hanaiali‘i. Guests can buy a $1 ornament at the gingerbread village to hang on the lobby tree with Grand Wailea matching the $1 donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui.

Santa makes an appearance twice: Breakfast with Santa is Saturday, December 17 in Grand Dining Room Maui and families can have their photo taken with the bearded one.  Santa arrives by Hawaiian outrigger canoe on Saturday, December 24 at 9am at Wailea Beach fronting Grand Wailea. Hundreds of children are expected to turn out to see Santa sail in.
