33rd annual kapalua wine & food festival

KWFF_Seafood Festival_Prepare for a magical weekend at the 33rd Kapalua Wine & Food Festival presented by Visa which will take place June 12-15, 2014. This annual ‘migration’ of oenophiles, gourmands and enthusiasts of the good life reunite on the shores of the Kapalua resort to celebrate, learn and experience the finest culinary trends and viniculture.

Highlights of the weekend include interactive wine tasting seminars from such celebrated wine regions of Russian River Valley, Santa Lucia Highlands and the Pacific Northwest. International wines will also be well represented, and savored, from Italy and New Zealand. Celebrity Chefs Dean Fearing and Andrew Sutton are sure to wow guests with culinary samplings with many more unique and memorable tastings and experiences throughout the rest of the weekend.

Host Master Sommelier, Michael Jordan commented “This festival has a great vibe and is becoming the favorite for winemakers to attend and showcase their premium vintages and share their stories. Our goal every year is to surpass the fun and festivities from the year prior and I have no doubt we will top the stellar success of 2013.”

Chef Mark Tarbell – the only winning competitor on the 5th season of Iron Chef America – was classically trained in France for wine and food and has received numerous accolades including being nominated as “Best Chef – Southwest” by the James Beard Foundation.

These great winemakers – all good friends – will invite us in for a glimpse of their shared passion and their devotion to this seductive thin skinned beauty named Pinot Noir. Russian River and Sonoma Coast are home of some of the most exceptional Vineyards in the world. These jewel box sites produce tiny amounts of the most delicious fruit anywhere.

Italian Wines, a comparative tasting of highly sought after Italian wines

The Italian countryside has a unique charm which permeates to their lifestyle, food and their wines. We are excited to bring “A Taste of Italy” to the 2014 Kapalua Wine & Food Festival with a quartet of true superstar, game changing Italian winemakers. Visiting from Piemonte in The northwest of Italy will be La Spinetta, a highly acclaimed Barolo/Barbaresco specialist and Braida, a revolutionary Barbera superstar. From Tuscany, Ciacci Picolomini, one of the top echelon Brunello di Montalcino stars….and the legendary Vittorio Fiore (Poggio Scalette) one of Italy’s most iconic, influential winemaking consultants of all time, will also be joining the panel.

A tale of four winemakers and four mountains. These great wines are made from some of the most exclusive mountain vineyards in California. Compare varietal, vintage, super rare wines and a special side by side comparison of the two Anakota Vineyard sites by Pierre Seillan.

Seafood Festival
Hosted by Maui No Ka Oi Magazine
The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, Beach House Lawn • 6pm – 9pm

15 of Maui’s Top Restaurants showcase a seafood specialty and another creation in competition for Maui No Ka Oi Magazine’s “Best of the Fest” award. Entertainment by ‘Nuff Sedd.
